Climate Beneficial Wool Weaving its Way at Huston Textile Company
A Bolt of Climate Beneficial Wool woven at Huston Textile Company makes it’s way towards Community Sustained Cloth customers in early May. Huston continues to step up its production capabilities at it’s new Mather location near Rancho Cordova in the Sacramento Metro.
“It’s something that we just do here at Huston – we make high integrity cloth,” Said Huston Textile Owner, Ryan Huston. The fibers used by Huston to make Climate Beneficial Wool come from Lani Lana ranch in northern California.
This batch of climate beneficial wool has already been sold to artisan and commercial designers. The wool twill is light, comfortable and a cozy 8 ounces a square yard. Designers are looking for a cloth that posses the qualities of luxury born of natural fibers whose origins replenish the soil. Huston will be weaving many more farm to fabric yarns over the years.
“We are resourceful and have had a lot of experiences working with textiles” – from making clothing to repairing heritage looms. Huston is a local family run business that operates the only versatile weaving mill in the western US.
