Local cloth production – weaving the fabric that makes shirts, jeans and coats that are lasting practical and hansom this is the remarkable work of Huston Textile Company.   Located in Rancho Cordova California the company is run by Ryan Huston who has built – through his own ingenuity, resources, and knowledge – the only US textile mill west of the Mississippi.  Huston Textile Company is one of a very few US textile companies who are currently sourcing US natural fibers – organic cotton and wool – to make American premium quality cloth.  Ryan’s passion for high-quality machinery, self-reliance and local production has astonished clothing designers across the nation and his cloth is a highly sought after specialty product. 

Stone’s Throw Strategies conducted a business examination and provided business assistance over a three-month period that included customer and industry expert interviews as well as an extensive review of mill operation and costs with company founder Ryan Huston.  This work culminated in a business plan and slide deck that describe what a modest sized textile mill can do when it is reasonably capitalized, manages its costs and aggressively sells premium cloth and garments.  The business plan provided granular detail about the number of yards and garments that must be sold at what price, how much labor is required and what types of equipment must be purchased and maintained and the amount of investment needed to reach those goals.  In addition, Stone’s Throw Strategies actively promoted Huston Textile helping the company gain key purchase commitments.
